Performing ensembles available at Strasburg High School:

Concert Band - This ensemble is a traditional concert band that performs at local events and has regular concerts.  
  • Because of block scheduling limitations, students who cannot enroll in the Fourth Block Concert Band Class (class is called "Advanced Band I and II" in SHS catalogue) each semester may participate in Morning Band (class is called "Concert Band" in SHS catalogue) each semester for a half credit. 
  • The Morning Band rehearses at 7:15 am every day before school.  The morning and block halves of the band combine on Thursday nights from 5:30 to 8:00 once marching season is over (usually at the beginning of November). 

Purple Regiment - competitive "corps style" marching band.  The Purple Regiment performs in local parades, football games and competes in local marching competitions.  This ensemble has performed in the James Madison University Parade of Champions as well as in the USBands national marching band circuit.  Check out and this site for more details. 

Indoor Drumline - competitive indoor marching percussion unit.  The Indoor Drumline competes in the Atlantic Indoor Association regional competitive circuit.  IDL has been competiting since 2010.

Winterguard - competitive indoor colorguard unit.  The Winterguard competes in the Atlantic Indoor Association regional competitive circuit.  They've been in existence since January 2009.
